Note: Due to the unexpected logistical difficulties, no formal minutes were taken. As a substitute, following is the content of an article that was submitted to to North Valley Community News.
Our last meeting on Dec. 21 began a bit hectic, as our location, Andasol Auditorium was locked and the area was not well lit. We postponed the selection of committee chairs. We did have a quorum vote on a selection of streets that a Board member had charted as being deserving for the utilization of grant money from the gasoline tax for street paving improvements. At the same time we had a quorum vote to change NENC Bylaws for our Election dates. We then adjourned and gathered again at the offices of Greig Smith for a presentation of Cal State Northridge's (CSUN) Draft EIR but were not able to take any action. We will hold a Special Meeting Jan. 3rd at Northridge Recreational Center for this purpose and Committee Selection.
NENC will change its Bylaws to have Elections fall in June rather then December, with the new Board members taking the oath to serve the stakeholders of Northridge East as well as Los Angeles in the month of July. The date as of now is June 11th for NENC Elections. More information will be available in the coming months on how you can become involved.
The presentation of the Draft EIR Envision 2035 went quite well, especially considering how gracious Dr. Jennings and Colin Donahue were in changing locations. I might add having it in Greig Smiths building rather then in a large auditorium provided a much better working dialog. The stakeholders present were able to ask questions at length.
The Draft EIR is approximately 1154 pages with six major topics being covered:
You can view the Entire Master Plan document which is (190 pages) on line at the following location: http://www.csun.edu/envision2035/master_plan/draftreport.pdf

Thanks to all who have helped our Elected Board get on its feet this year. The Interim Board did a wonderful job of preparation to make this an extremely smooth transition. We would like to Thank Prince of Peace, Andasol Elementary School, and Prudential California Realty of Northridge for allowing us to meet in their locations as we got ourselves organized.
